First Day of Class
Minerva McGonagall, tall, strict, (but fair) was sitting at her desk shuffling her papers. Reviewing her role-call list, she shook her head. She once again had Potter, Black, Lupin, and Pettigrew in a class together. She pulled out a door of her desk, looking at the large amount of Fibusters Fireworks and Dungbombs and Stink Pellets she has had to confiscate from them only yesterday. She didn't even have a class with them till today.

The bell rang to go to class, so she got out her lesson plan, and waited for her class to arrive.

Rosalee
Rose lokked into the Transgiguration classroom. As Redivius had seen fit to wake her so early, she had been early to Breakfast, and, consequently, Transfiguration. Not that she was looking forward to transfiguration, it was actually her worst subject, but there wan't too much she wanted to do in the Great Hall. She sat down at the back of the class. She actually, for once, didn't want to read, a very rare occurence. Then she remembered her diary. She took it out of her bag and opened it to the next blank page.

Rose again
(Continused from diary thread...)

Rose closed the diary and sighed. Rose saw that there was still awhile to go untill Transfiguration started. She pulled out a blank piece of parhcment, and after a moments thought, began to write.

Re: First Day of Class
Lily Evans slipped into the Transfiguration class and quietly approached McGonagall.

"I'm afraid something happened to my textbook," she said in a low voice. "I was wondering if you had one I might borrow while I send off for another - I have a few supplements from the library right now, but I'm afraid that they won't cover what you're trying to teach..." Her face puckered in concern. "Sorry to bother you with this."

James Potter
James came up behind Lily, "Trust me, she has a LOT of 'supplements'. I really think she'll be fine without a textbook." He leaned toward McGonagall conspiratorially, "Her dog ate it - her sister's dog, really." He shook his head mournfully, "Tragic, really. Shall we have a moment of silence for the sake of the deceased?"

McGonagall raised one eyebrow amusedly, "Sit down, Potter."

James grinned, "Yes ma'am."

Re: First Day of Class
Lily glared at James as he jauntily sat.

"But still," she said, making her voice as low as possible, "It would help to have the textbook."

Re: James Potter
"I normally don't offer extra books to my students, but seeing as you seem to have a resonable explanation, and have never given me reason to trust you, I shall for this one class. Be assured it shouldn't happen again." Professor McGonagall said.

As the class filled with students, Professor McGonagall began to pass out the silver-dollar sized spiders they would be transfiguring today. When James Potter received his, he seemed to have great pleasure in placing it secretly on Lily Evans head, and then rescuing her, dramatically emphasizing that that spider could have bitten her any moment, and that she should be thanking him on bended knee; though he was having difficulty keeping a straight face.

After Rose finished her letter she rolled up the parchment and put in her bag. Prof. Mcgonagall came over and handed her a big spider, explaining that it was what they would be transfiguring that day. Rose held it as far away from her body as possible. She hated spiders. ;) bookworm;)

Re: James Potter
OOC: Er, ILRL, do you mean "mistrust you"? ;) And the spider part was HILARIOUS.

IC:

Gwen blanched as McGonagall handed her the spider. She hated spiders. She loathed spiders. Setting it on her desk, she held it by one leg so that it couldn't get away and closed her eyes. This lesson had better be over soon.

~*~

With her new textbook at the ready, Lily performed a neat Enclosure Charm to keep the spider on her desk. She didn't like spiders (and liked them even less on her head, as she barely refrained from screaming at Potter). Satisfied, she waited for McGonagall to begin the instruction.

~*~

Morgan watched disinterestedly as the spider prowled around her desk. Each time it went too near the edge she would grab it by one hairy leg and return it to the center (a process the spider did not like at all). Spiders were all right - if rather boring.

Re: Rose
Aaron picked up his spider by two legs. He didn't really like spiders, but he didn't really hate them either, though he knew quite a few people who couldn't stand the sight of one. But this was one creature that Aaron could transform in to anything without the least amount of moral dificulty. Aaron thought a little, stood up, and said, "if we transfigure more likable animals, they'll get turned back after class, right?"

Narcissa
Narcissa walked sleekily into the Trans. classroom,
"Sorry I'm late professor. Prefect duties."
It wasn't a flat-out lie. She had had prefect duties. Yelling at a group of first years.

Chris
Chris slipped into the room behind Narcissa and sat down. He quickly pulled out his wand as he recieved his spider from the professor. He didn't mind spiders, but they weren't his favorite type of animal.

*******************

Trent walked in a few seconds later. Without bothering to apologize for his lateness he sat down in a vacant seat. While he waited for a spider to be given to him he amused himself by levitating a piece of dirt in front of his face.

He wanted McGonagal to hurry up and give him his spider. He wanted to levitate a spider instead of a piece of dirt, and possibly even position the spider in front of a sqeaulish girl, but, unlike Jame's, he wasn't planning on doing it for the sake of playing the hero. He just wanted to see how much chaos he could cause.

Chelsea
"Eeeeeeeek!!"

Chelsea shrieked as they approached her with a spider. It was big and hairy and struggling grostesquely.

"I hate spiders! Get it away! Ewww!!" she squealed, and when they placed it on her desk she screamed again and frantically pulled out her wand. Pointing it at the spider, she apparently tried to cast some sort of spell. Bang! Her wand sent a mixture of black smoke and ink out it's back end--straight into Chelsea's face.

Covered in black stuff, wand held stiffly in front of her, Chelsea whimpered softly. The whole class was looking at her. She couldn't believe this was happening! Embarrassed and filthy, Chelsea got up and, wand still in hand, fled from the room.

Her spider calmly climbed down her desk leg disappeared into Chelsea's bookbag.

Re: Chris
Aaron watched as a girl ran from the room at the sight of the spider. That is, after trying to blow it up and only succeding incovering her face in smoke. His question still went unanswered, so he said in a louder voice, "Excuse me, but if we transfigure any more likable creatures will they be transfigured back after class?"

Re: Chelsea
For the first time, Kenneth found himself feeling a little sorry for that Tompkins girl, who had always ignored him and him her. He'd had that same thing (a wand backfire ink and smoke) happen to him once--it was dreadful. And he knew that since Chelsea female it made it even more embarrassing for her.

Kenneth returned to examining his spider. It was about three inches across, and rather hairy. It carried itself low to the ground - or rather, desk - and could move rather quickly, Ken soon discovered. Looking around the room, he saw that Lily had cleverly cast a containing charm on her desk; Kenneth vaguely decided to follow suit...

He wrenched his eyes from the redhead and performed the spell, then propped his elbows on the table and waited for the lesson to begin.

Rosalee (once again)
Rose hoped that class would start soon. She wanted to change her spider into somthing else as soon as Possible. Not taht it would ecactaklly turn ionto what she wanted it to, but as long as it was no longer a spider that woulod be fine with her. She was certainly less squemish than most girls about bugs, but spiders were somthing else.

er...various and sundry of my people? ;)
"You astound me sometimes, Prongs," Sirius whispered to James after the latter had removed the spider from Lily's head. "And here I was, thinking you were mature. Head Boy and all. You're letting us down, mate, letting us all down."

"Mature?" Remus' incredulous whisper floated to the duo from one row behind. "Sorry to say neither of you fit that description, Padfoot old pal. You're about as mature as a tree frog."

"I'm insulted," Sirius said self-righteously. "I'm a pillar of maturity! The very epitome of that grand state! And you say I'm not mature? You do me great wrong, Mr. Moony."

"Mr. Black," Professor McGonagall broke in from the front of the room. "If you will please turn your attention to me?" Her tone was stern (as always), although her lips twitched in undeniable amusement.

"Yes, ma'am," Sirius said repentently. "No talking. Got it."

Thomas studied his spider with interest. It did not bother him - in fact, he found its desperate attempts at escape rather amusing. It was rather pathetic, in a very arachnid sort of way. He hoped that McGonagall would begin the lecture soon before he actually started to care for the thing.

Carina
Carina looked up from her text book. Maybe we can FINALLY start now.... she thought. Being extremely early had its advantages....and its disadvantages. On one hand, she had gotten a bit of homework done for Care of Magical Creatures....but on the other hand, staring at a wall for fifteen minutes straight can make you VERY impatient for something interesting to happen......

Ginger, Skilmer, and Loral
Skilmer watched his spider crawl up and down his desk, prodding it back towards the center when it got too close to the edge. Inwardly he was groaning. Transfiguration is really not my best subject...I hope it at least doesn't blow up...
--
Loral saw that Lily had put a charm on her spider to keep it from crawling away. Though she hated to appear like a copy-cat, the idea had merit. After a quick wave of the wand and a whispered word, she was free to gaze unconcernedly around the classroom to inwardly scoff at all the other students.
--
Ginger examined her spider with interest. Though definately not her favorite animal, and at this size by all means gross, Transfiguration she enjoyed, and she amused herself by levitating the spider, then changing its color several times over.
--
Skilmer absentmindedly prodded his spider back to the middle of the desk again, only to find that with his last wave of a wand, he'd somehow managed to triple the number of legs it had. Oh, shoot, now what? He glanced around the room to see if anyone had seen, then turned back to the spider, trying to decide what to do with it. But at least it hadn't blown up.
