GRYFFINDOR QUIDDITCH PRACTICE
A cool, early-autumn breeze stirred the grass of the Quidditch Pitch as the Gryffindor team trooped onto it.
"Right," James Potter, team captain, said. "Let's go."

"One of the first things we have to work on is being a team - most of us have never played with anyone else on the team, and if we don't fix that we're never going to win." He put a fist in the air, "And we want to win!" He punched the air, "What do we want to do?"
"Win!" shouted his team.
"Right! So first we're breaking up into halves of the team before we bring everyone together. Keeper and Chasers - you'll be working together to begin with. I want the Chasers to practice passes and scoring - be creative. And Kenneth, you'll be looking for creative ways to keep them from scoring.
"Beaters - you two will be working with me. Rosalee, I want you working on speed - you hit the Bludger at me as hard as you can. Thomas, you work on accuracy - hit it at as close a range as you can. I'll be looking for the Snitch while I dodge the two of you.
"We'll spend a while practicing like this, do some constructive critizism, and then switch things around. So, grab the practice balls from here - " he nudged the crate at his feet with his toe - "and we'll get started."

Kenneth lifted the familiar quaffle from the crate and tossed it into the air, catching it deftly. He was glad to be out practicing on the Quidditch field again. Tucking the ball under his arm, Kenneth mounted his broom and kicked off the grass toward the hoops where the chasers were ready.
He tossed the ball to Sirius and positioned himself in front of the goals, ready for anything.
Rose is THE CHAMPION BEATER! Well, sort of. Cuz' i say so.
Rose gave the beaters bat a couple of practice swings, just to warm up, then mounted her broom and took off after a bludger. (they have let that balls out, right?)

James reached into the crate and tossed the practice Snitch into the air. "Tom, Rose, let's go!" He jumped on his broom and took off after the Snitch, keeping half an eye behind him on his Beaters.

Quidditch
Thomas sped off after James, exhilirated by the quick rush of air. He flew one-handed for a moment, swinging his Beater's club in the other hand and whacking experimentally at a few passing flies. It felt good to be in the air again.
"Watch out," he bellowed as he whacked a Bludger toward Rose.

James surveyed his team in a quick sweep over the pitch. "Nice job, Kenneth, Sirius, Morgan. Keep it moving. Remember, Beaters, I'm the target and you have an assignment to hunt me a certain way."
James' Seeker reflexes kicked in almost before he saw the Bludger screaming in his direction. Rose grinned and he nodded to her before speeding off after the Snitch.

Rose and her smugness. (Hey, she needs ego too!)Speed. Rose thought. He wanted speed, he is gonna get it. She sped after a bludger and gave it a solid whack in James' direction. A very solid whack.

Very nicely done, Beaters!
The Bludger zoomed neatly over Jame's head, "That's great, Rose! Now combine that speed with your talent for accuracy - WAH!" He ducked suddenly and nearly fell off his broom as the Bludger came back at him at close range. He'd neglected to notice Tom waiting on his other side. James laughed and help up a hand for his Beaters to stop a moment. "This is really good, you two. You both have weaknesses, which we'll make into strengths, but you also both have talents and if you use them together like you just did, the other team won't stand a chance.
"Now keep in mind, you won't always have just one target for the both of you. But nevermind that - our current strategy is teamwork. Figure out who the biggest threat is to a Gryffindor victory, and harrass them. If you keep missing though, don't waste your time, move on to someone else. Great job, Tom, Rose. You two work together - Rose, keep working on hitting hard, and Tom, accuracy. Just like we've been doing. I'm going to work with the rest of the team. Keep it up, guys."
James sailed over to Kenneth, Sirius, and Morgan. "How's it coming?"

Rose looked at her fellow beater, smiled breifly, and streaked after the bludger James had just dodged, which seemed to be trying to decide which Chaser to hit first.
