Girls' DormsIT IS SIX O'CLOCK A.M. ON THE MORNING OF SEPTEMBER THE SECOND. WAKE UP, LILY! IT IS SIX O'CLOCK A.M. ON--
Lily sighed and turned off the alarm clock, magically enhanced with an advanced spell so that no one but her would be disturbed by its cries. She yawned and sat up, started at her toes for a moment, and then got out of bed and slowly began dressing for the day.
When she had finished, she brushed her long red hair, pinned on her Head Girl badge - not without a grin - and left the dorm. She had to get to the library this morning before it was time to start overseeing breakfast.
Marti's gaze shot from her drawing pad to the sliver of an opening in her curtains, glancing over just long enough to see Lily turn of her alarm and sit up. Marti checked her watch and decided she would get up as soon as Lily left. Returning intently to her sketch book, she worked on the picture of the Ravenclaw girls' pillow fight from the previous day.
When she heard the door close behind Lily she stuck the art pad back under her pillow and pulled back the curtains. Briefly noting the drizzly weather, she dressed and brushed her hair, then packed her books neatly for the day's classes. Remembering suddenly, Marti made her bed. With a satisfied nod, she shouldered her bag and went down to breakfast.
Re: Girls' Dorms
At around 7:00am Ali awoke to her alram clock to find that Mari was still fast asleep in the bed next to hers.
"Wake up Mari," Ali said through a yawn as she gently nudged her friend, but Mari didn't even budge. "Mari," Ali said pushing a bit harder. Mari still didn't budge. "That's it!" Ali rolled back her sleeves and rolled Mari off the bed.
Mari awoke with a start. "What on earth!" She yelled staggering to her feet.
"Sorry, you wouldn't wake up. Everyone else has left down to breakfast." Ali explained.
"Well you didn't need to push me off the bed." Mari said quickly. "Let me put on my clothes and then we can go to breakfast."

Carina tried for the fiftieth time to open her eyes, but they once again stubbornly shut. She had been up all night finishing one little essay for Transfiguration, but the thought of another 'A' had drove her to attempt perfection.
She rolled over and peeked at the clock.... "Oh my gosh!!" The clock read 7:45 am - she had overslept again. Can it be possible that I am even late for breakfast? she thought, rolling her eyes in her own annoyance. Luckily, she had fallen asleep in her clothes, and needed only to grab her school robe and hat before dashing down the stairs and toward the Great Hall.

Ginger is too late for breakfast
Ginger woke up suddenly. After a glance at someone else's alarm clock, she nearly fell out of bed. She dashed out of bed but she doubted that she would be in time to do anything other than get to Potions.

~AFTER CoMC~
Marti sat heavily on her bed. She was feeling moody now, after what she'd said to Lily at lunch, even if it had been over an hour ago. Marti had done her best to avoid thinking of it over the summer - it would have upset her Muggle mother if she knew the extent, so her father advised her not to brood on it. Unfortunately, brooding was one of the things Marti did best, and she could feel the tendency returning with a vengence.
Marti sighed and pulled the curtains closed around her bed and pulled out her journal. Ordinarily, Marti was more for pictures than words when she was expressing herself, but You-Know-Who put only ugly terror into her fingers. Once this summer she'd tried to draw her feelings, but she'd had to throw it away, unfinished. It was too much.

Marti shut her diary and blinked rapidly. Marti did NOT cry. She poked her head out of the curtains and pulled her book bag inside her shelter. Time to study...

Re: Private Matter
As soon as Marti left, Lily sat down on her bed, but Ginger kept standing nervously--she didn't want to get anything wet, though Lily hadn't as yet been able to see the state of her robes.
"Um, I would expect so," Ginger said awkwardly. "It sounds like something he would do."
Lily's curiosity was mounting. "I don't understand. Maybe you'd better explain it from beginning to end."
So Ginger, nervous as she was, did:
"Well, I went into the bathroom because I was mad at Loral, and when I sat down, the toilet seat pushed me off and banged my head against the door. I tried again, and it lifted up the cover before I could sit on it, and I...I" she lowered her eyes, and then her voice. "I fell in the toilet," she whispered. Turning, if possible, a little redder when she saw that Lily was trying to hold back laughter, she bravely continued. "And then it came back down and bopped me on the head again. And I didn't know what to do with it, 'cause I didn't want anyone else to have happen to them what...what happened to me." Embarrassment filled her whole voice, and she looked close to tears. "So I...I took it with me. And then I came and got you..." Ginger looked, red as a Macintosh apple, or maybe redder, at Lily. Please...she pleaded with her eyes, as her voice seemed to have failed her. Please understand...I'm so embarrassed I feel like I'm going to die! Help me...

Re: Private Matter
Lily sobered quickly. "That's terrible," she said, getting angry. "I will kill Potter for this one. Or turn him in to Dumbledore - or both.
"It's all right," she added, spotting Ginger's extreme discomfort. "Here, hand me the - thing." Ginger did so, and Lily cast a Drying Charm on it and locked it securely in her trunk (where it began to thump against its prison and bark loudly). Lily sighed and cast another charm - this time a Silencing Charm - on the trunk.
"Sit," she instructed Ginger. Ginger became, if at all possible, even redder.
"I'm...wet," she whispered.
Lily smiled. "It's all right," she said, "Sit here, if it makes you feel better." A thick blue towel suddenly appeared over one half of Lily's bed. Gratefully, Ginger sat.
"Now, which bathroom was this in?" Lily asked.
"The downstairs girls' bathroom."
"I thought so." Lily sighed. "Yesterday morning I caught James Potter and Sirius Black messing around in there. They'd taken the toilet seat off and I told them -" She stopped, and her mouth fell open in shock. "I told them -" She stopped again, glaring at the trunk that held the captive Spike. Turning nearly as red as Ginger, Lily dropped her head into her hands in embarrasment.
"What?"
"I told them to put Spike on the toilet," Lily said in a very low voice. "I must have. They were - I came into the bathroom yesterday morning and they were holding this seat, and there wasn't one on the toilet. They must have hidden the other one...I guess they were holding Spike...and I told them to put it on the toilet or I'd report them to the Headmaster." She groaned. "What a mess..."
Re: Private Matter
Ginger was more calm now, or at least she wasn't really crying or looking like someone had dumped red paint on her anymore. She nodded solemnly when Lily had finished. "You're right, it is a mess."
Lily was lost in her thoughts. Silent for a while while Ginger watched her patiently and with great respect, she abruptly stood up: "I think I need to go and get..." she murmured to herself.
"Wait!" Ginger cried, suddenly terrified. "Don't leave me here. I mean, someone will see me and laugh at me..." She was suddenly miserable again. "Maybe, if I could come with you, they...they'd only...only make faces at me, and..."she hesitated, eyes staring at her feet. "and spread rumors about me behind my back." She looked up, mournful yet hopeful.

Re: Private Matter
"Oh, Ginger," Lily said sympathetically, snapping back into reality. She reached forward and gave the younger girl a quick hug. "Of course not. Look - we'll get you a cleaned up and then we'll go confront Potter. Or McGonagall. Or Dumbledore. Or all of the above."
Twenty minutes later, Ginger was outfitted in set of fresh robes. Her hair - the ends of which had gotten wet - had been magically cleaned and dried and braided into one neat braid by Lily. Now, they faced the next problem: how to transport Spike as inconspicuously as possible.
"I want to get that thing to the Headmaster as soon as possible," Lily confided in Ginger. "Although -" she hesitated, and blushed slightly. "To tell you the truth, I'm rather nervous. It was my fault - sort of...it will be a major loss of trust.
"But I can't just give it back to Potter and Black," she added determinedly. "Then they'd just put it on some other toilet and before long the whole thing will have been blown out of proportion...what should I do, Ginger?"

"Don't answer that - yet," Lily said nervously, catching sight of her wristwatch. "If we don't go now, we'll be late for Potions. We'll sort this out later." And with a last check to make sure her trunk was locked, she left the dormitory, followed by Ginger.
