Head Boy and Girl business
James and Lily walked to the Great Hall in semi-companionable silence - which was a big thing for the two of them.
The doors were open when they entered and the Great Hall was fairly well filled. They walked to the staff table.
"Reporting for duty, Headmaster," James grinned.
Professor Dumbledore looked over his glasses at them. "Running a little late, are we?"
Lily piped up, "My bag split open and James helped me pick up the books and carry them to the common room."
Dumbledore nodded, "I see." Then he smiled, his eyes twinkling, "It is of no very great consequence at any rate; the Head Boy and Girl have never been on time the first day." He picked up a stack of papers - Schedules, registered James - and handed them to Lily. "You two need to pass these out. And try to make the first years feel welcome."

Re: Head Boy and Girl business
Lily took half the stack of schedules. "Thank you, Headmaster," she said, her tone businesslike. Then she headed toward the Ravenclaw Table to begin handing them out.
Re: Head Boy and Girl business
James stopped Lily and took the other half of the stack from her, his hand brushing hers slightly. He ruffled his hair, trying to calm the suddenly-more-raging-than-usual hormones, and briskly walked away.
He looked down at the first schedule in his hand purposefully. Lily Harriet Evans, Gryffindor. James clenched his teeth momentarily and did an about-face, striding to Lily again. He casually lifted up the rest of the schedules and stuck hers at the bottom of the stack. "I had yours," James explained. He smiled wryly, "Back to business." He turned and glanced down at the next schedule, then rolled his eyes and marched over to the Ravenclaw table.

OOC: Um, you have Lily down as being in Gryffindor.
More and more I think I was right about Gryff, though. Cause doesn't someone tell Harry both his parents were from there?
IC:
Lily looked down at the first schedule on her pile. Aaron Callahan, Ravenclaw. That must be the new boy she'd noticed in the Common Room that morning...

OOC: Ewps. *runs off to fix it*
I don't remember anyone mentioning that, but it still just doesn't make sense to me to have both Head Boy and Girl in the same house. And besides, t'would be kind of a pain to change it now, after we've RPed all the Ravenclaw stuff.
And big fat shame on me for posting all OOC! *makes up something to post*

As James walked past Lily he paused, "You're welcome. I got Bendigeid," he made a face. " D'you know where 'Gwendolyn M. James' is? No one at Hufflepuff's seen her." He grinned, "No one's seen Aiden either, so my guess is they've finally eloped."

"Yes I know that, the whole point of my asking is that they're not." He sighed and shuffled Gwendolyn's schedule to the bottom of his stack as he walked away.

Lily looked down at the next schedule and headed to the Gryffindor table, passing the doorway to the Great Hall as she did so. Walking past the doorway on the other side were two very sodden blonde figures -

James stopped short and looked in the direction Lily motioned. With a suave smile, he ruffled his hair and ambled up to Gwen. "Hey there Gwen, love. That look is great on you," he nodded at her soggy hair and decidedly muddy shoes. "Of course, any look is." He smiled his most beguiling and handed Gwen her schedule. James nodded at Aiden, "Hi Aiden. Going to try out for Quidditch this year?"
Aiden, not feeling over-amiable toward James at present, simply shrugged.
"You ought to. Hufflepuffs need a good Keeper, since McDouglas left last year. Gryffindor won't have any competition if you don't join up." He smiled at the two of them, "I'll see you later, Head Boy stuff to do," he held up the schedules. He winked at Gwen, "see you in class," and strolled back into the Great Hall.
