Introduction to History of Magic
Professor Binns waited for the clock to finish chiming before gliding in a dismal way into the classroom. The board already had his name and the subject written on it, but he floated to it nonetheless. He slowly wrote down the year "304 BC" on it and pulled his heavy volume towards him. Without further ado, he began to read aloud. It was just as well, because had he bothered to look up he would have seen most of the kids already falling into a stupor and--oh, what was his name? Pollet? Porrat? He was looking extremely mischevious.

Marti, grateful for the alertness potion she'd taken the liberty to make for herself, And Muggles thought they had it good with caffeine, briskly took notes.

Though she was still quite awake, her mind soon involuntarily wandered. She wondered if Bran would be up to a game of chess later on, or better, if Morgan Louisa would want to talk. She felt like she could use Morgan Louisa's upbeat attitude right now. It was funny, somehow things like that annoyed her in other people, but she liked it in Morgan. Louisa. The corners of Marti's mouth turned up into something more like a smirk than a smile. I've never been able to separate her first and middle name, though most everyone else just calls her Morgan. But Morgan just isn't the same person Morgan Louisa. Marti shook her head slightly and, with a frown, reapplied herself to her notes.

Morgan Louisa entered the room and took a desk next to Marti.

"Hello," she said, flipping her hair so that the violently orange (not to mention enormous) clip sparkled.

Marti winced as she eyed the clip. "More obnoxious than usual, wouldn't you say?"

Re: Introduction to History of Magic
Unlike most, it seemed, Ginger had gotten a good night's sleep, though from her notes one wouldn't have noticed. She didn't really like history, especially the way Prof. Binns taught it. She gazed longingly out of the nearest window, her stomach groaning a little for the breakfast she hadn't had. Her sleeping in late accounted for both her empty stomach and her restless urge to go outside. Also her being late to class--it was hard to get a hold of her schedule, having not been in the Great Hall. Ginger, with extreme effort, wrenched her thoughts from her growling tummy to the droning voice going on about some famous vampire that she hadn't heard of, and her quill darted back and forth across her page once more.

Loral Havelly surveyed her classmates from her vantage point at the back of the class. She had been quite early, though as luck would have it, it didn't seem that anyone had noticed. Her hands were not so busy taking notes as they were polishing the electrum clasp at her neck. If someone were just to happen to glance behind them, her wealth would be inevitably obvious.

I wonder if I'm the only one with this kind of trouble, Aaron thought. The professor seemed to know how to put people to sleep just by talking, even if the subjects where very interesting. He just wanted to get back into his room and start planning...

"I like it," Morgan said defensively to Marti after pretending to studiously take notes when the professor looked up (for once). "Don't you?"

Carmondy
Carmondy, who was sitting behind her, whispered in reply (even though it wasn't her who'd been asked),
"It's to DIE for, Morgan! Get it?" she eyed Professor Binns. Grinning to herself, Carmondy pulled a bottle of bright blue nailpolish from her bag and silenty cast a charm on it that caused it not to fill the room with the smell of chemicals and colors found in most polishes.

Mari and Ali
Mari and Ali walked into the classroom and silently closed the dorr behind them. Ali was about to apologize to the professor for being late, but Mari quickly stopped her. "He didn't even notice Ali," she whispered.

They quickly found seats in the back of the room. Ali immediately began taking notes and Mari promptly started to fall asleep.

Trent
Trent slowly stalked into the classroom. He quickly surveyed its inhabitants. There was the ghost professor giving a lecture in a mono-tone voice, seemingly to the blackboard since his eyes never once looked back at the students. Then there were the uninterested students.

This will be a fun class, he silently thought. As he walked towards a seat in the second row he even spotted one girl doing her nails. How stupid, he thought to himself.

Re: Carmondy
Marti looked at Carmondy, wondering if it would be more to the point to look disapproving at her lame joke or amused because it was lame. She shrugged slightly and returned to her notes

Gwen suppressed an excited sigh. Now, finally, she could pull out that diary again. She'd tried to in Potions, but the new teacher was awfully sharp - and besides, she needed to take notes in Potions. She needed to take them in History of Magic too...but maybe she could get away with skipping today.

So reasoning, she pulled out the diary without even bothering ot hide it behind a textbook, inked a quill, and began to write.

Over in the back left corner...
Penny's arms sprawled on her desk, and she drummed her fingers loudly. This had to be the most boring class in the history of the world, she thought, and laughed to herself.

suddenly awake
Mari jerked awake when she felt a shart jab on her right shoulder.

"Mari," Ali said out of the corner of her mouth. "Stay awake. Do I need to remind you that you're in class?"

"No, you don't," Mari said yawning. "because that's the reason I'm falling asleep."

Trent
Trent looked up from his notebook. He had written everything down that Binns had been saying, but he was still bored. Man, I think Binns must have died of boredom while listening to himself lecture. Trent chuckled at his joke.

He looked around the classroom and saw that silly girl that had earlier been painting her nails, now just examining them. I could spill that bottle of polish, he thought with an evil grin, but just as he pulled his wand out, professor Binns turned around to face the students.

Trent put his wand away quickly. He didn't mind casting a spell in front of a teacher, but he wasn't ready for detention on his first day back. Besides, he thought. There will be plenty more chances this year.

Another minute later Binns turned back to the board and continued lecturing. Trent decided to just continue taking notes.

Carmondy
Carmondy nodded approvingly at her glamorous nails, then sighed. Now what should she do?
She noticed that Slytherin boy Trent scowlong in her direction once again, with an evil look in his eyes. She shot him her famous "Can I help you?" smirk.

Carina
"Applesauce!" Carina yelled stupidly. She had just awoken from her deep slumber, in which she had been dreaming of a Rebel Goblin leader and his trusty steed Applesauce, who had just been eaten by a dragon with wings made of paper and string. A few scattered snickers were heard, and she remembered where she was. Stay awake...stay awake..... she thought, and forced herself to take notes.

Applesause?
Rose jerked up as someone called out 'applesause!' fortunately, nobody seemed to have noticed. She looked down at her pitiful two lines of notes. She had been determined to do better in History of Magic this year, this being OWL year and very important, but she didn't seem off to a good start. She glanced around the room. She wasn't the only one who had fallen into a stupor. She saw that her good friend Car was lookig a bit mischeiveous, though....

Carmondy innocently wrote a note to her best friend Rose, and passed it over her shoulder and onto her desk without bothering to hide it. Binns wasn't paying any attention. He might as well be dead--oh, right....

Rose,
I have a brilliant beyond brilliant idea!!
