Morning, Girls' Dorm
Gwen woke slowly, savoring the last few moments of sleep. It wasn't even light yet. Maybe it was the excitement of the new year, maybe it was something else - but whatever it was, she was definitely awake.

With a sigh, she slipped out of bed - careful not to wake the other girls - and quietly pulled on her robes. Her hair was still in French braids from the previous night; sitting back on her bed she undid the braids and was pleasantly surprised by the way her hair fell in brownish-yellow waves down her back. Hannah was good - it wasn't often that braids would stay in all night and not look wretched in the morning.

She decided to leave her hair wavy. If she didn't brush it it probably wouldn't friz, anyway. Grabbing a book on exotic plant life, Gwendolyn slipped out of the dorm and down the stairs to the Common Room.

7:22am
Hannah opened her eyes. It was light, and she saw that Gwen's bed was empty.

I hate it when my alarm decides not to go off, she thought sullenly. I wonder when Gwen got up?

Jumping out of bed, Hannah dressed and brushed her hair. Then she ran down to breakfast.

Morning
Linda yawned and sat up in her bed. Another day at Hogwarts, and nothing new, as usual. She stood up, and walked over to the corner where she kept her pet toad. She crouched down so she was as close to level with her friend as she could be.

"You up yet, Frog?" she whispered softly through the screen on the top of his cage. Nothing stirred.

"Oh, well," she sighed, and she tiptoed out of the room, careful not to wake the late sleepers.

Back again
She opened the door as softly as she could, and crept back to her four poster bed. She sat down, and rubbed her eyes. What was that she had come for? She scanned the room blankly. Ah, yes. She had com to say good morning to Frog.
She walked over to his cell, and peeked in.

"You awake NOW?" she asked him, forgetting to be quiet. She heard someone grunt, and then slip back into their dreamy sleep. Frog crawled out of the hole he had burrowed, and sat there, staring up at her through little yellow eyes.

"Good. I was afraid you were unconcious." she stated quite calmly. She picked him up, and set him on her lap.

"You know how my life always is, don't you? Today I went down to the common room, hoping for company, even if it wasn't appreciative, but no one was there. But do you know what was? There was a Herbology book on the chair. Someone was up early. And do you know what I did? I sat down and looked through it. But I thought I saw someone in the corner, and I was afraid of being caught, and perhaps accused of stealing, so I snapped the book shut and accidently tore a page. But there hadn't been anyone there after all. So I went down to have breakfast so I wouldn't be at the seen of the crime, and no one was there, either. So I ate mine and then came up so I could tell you all that happened this morning. Do you know what I should do about that book?" Frog stared blankly at her. Frogs can only have oe thought in there head at a time, and at the moment that thought was food. He croaked.

"I suppose you want some breakfast too? Here. She set him back in his cage and dumped in a few flies. He stuck his tongue out and ate them quickly. I guess I'll just go back down to the common room and stare at the fire cause there's nothing else to do, and you're busy digesting. Bye for now."

She got up, waved, and headed back down the stairs to the common room.

A few minutes later...
Chelsea Tompkins slid out of bed reluctantly. She saw that most of the other beds were empty. What time is it? Not fully awake, she fumbled for her clothes and climbed into them. Sleepily she tried to remember what class they were going to have first today, and what time it was supposed to start. I hope it's Tranfiguration...

Getting her cat, Fluffy, out from under the bed for his morning groom was quite a task. Finally, after lying on her stomach and twisting herself into some uncomfortable positions, Chelsea managed to get a hold on one of his short legs. She dragged the cat out, scooting backward awkwardly on her stomach (he scrabbled for a hold on the carpet all the way).

"Good morning, little snuggly muffin," she said, nuzzling her fluffy white Persian. "It's time for your brushing."

Feeling a little more awake, Chelsea reached for her brush and ribbons. Fluffy had given up the fight, and he sat stiffly through the whole thing. When she was done, Chelsea held him up.

"Oh, don't you look cute?"

Fluffy hissed to himself, and tore at the silky pink ribbons around his neck with a well-brushed paw, knowing it was no use.

Chelsea set the flustered cat down and stood up. Then she brushed and curled her light-blond hair and checked her teeth in the mirror before running down to breakfast.

Back again
Linda stepped into the Girls' Dorm, and walked back over to her four-poster bed for the third time that morning. She took her books from under her bed (where she had carelessly kicked them the night before,) and tossed them into her bag. She picked it up, swung it over her shoulder, and walked out of the dorm.
