~*~QUIDDITCH TRYOUTS!!!~*~
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a new year at Hogwarts, and time to fill up the empty positions on the Quidditch teams!

TO TRY OUT:

Write a post (NO LESS than three paragraphs!!!) describing your character's tryout (in front of Madam Hooch and the captain of their House team*). Describe their strengths and their weaknesses in flying as well as in the tasks set to them (explained below). Tryouts will be close Sunday, February 8th; results will be announced Monday, February 9th. If you are for some reason unable to tryout before this thread closes, please send me an email at lady_guenever@hotmail.com and I will try to extend the tryouts or make other arrangements. We want to give everyone a chance at the team!

Please include the following information BEFORE your in-character tryout:

Character name: Jocelynn Montgomery
Character age/year: 6th
Character House:Slytherin
Preferred position on the team:Seeker
Second-choice position:Chaser
(You do not have to try out for your second-choice position - this is so that if you don't get accepted into your first-choice and there are still openings in the second-choice, we can try and fit you onto the team.)
[/b]

Also, please specifiy whether or not your character would like to be a team captain (must be a fifth year or above). If there are more than one applicant, team captains will be selected after the positions are all filled by a completely random selection.
Yes! Definitely interested!

There is one of these on a Quidditch team. The Seeker is a crucial position on the team. The Seeker is responsible for ending the game by catching the golden Snitch. Seekers must have faultless reflexes, agility and skill in flying one- or no-handed. They must also have complete control over their broom in order to follow the amazingly quick Snitch in its haphazard flight. Seekers are generally slight of build - though it isn't a requirement, it's believed to lend agility and speed to their flight.

SEEKER TRYOUT (you roleplay this):

Snitch is released. Student must first practice catching it on the ground (letting it fly a foot or so ahead and then catching it) to demonstrate quick reflexes. Snitch is then released into the stadium; student must catch the Snitch at least once. Snitch is put away; student must execute some precision-turning maneuvers for Madam Hooch.

Jocelynn carefully let the snitch fly out of her hand, then snatched it back. Over and over she practiced nervously while waiting her turn in Quidditch tryouts. Finally,"Montgomery, Jocelynn" was called, and she stood up and walked as confidently as she could over to Madam Hooch.
"Dearie, please demonstrate your agility by catching the Snitch. I am going to let it out of my hand, and you'll need to capture it on foot as quickly as possible." Jocelynn nodded, slightly relieved. It was just what she had been practicing. Madam Hooch let go of the struggling Snitch, and it tried to take off soaring, but was pulled back by Jocelynn's quick hand. This happened around 10 tomes, and Jocie pulled it off without a hitch. Then, Madam asked Jocelynn to fetch her broom. Jocelynn did so, a fine Nimbus Two-Thousand and One. She kicked off and soared pleasantly into the air.
"I'm going to release the Snitch! Capture it as soon as possible! Try not to leave the pitch!" Madam Hooch shouted up."On my whistle, TWEEEEEEET!" The Snitch soared up into the air and Jocelynn was off. Her lithe frame and sleek broom cut through the air easily. With skill and precision, Jocelynn quickly slid into a nose-dive and caught the snitch in her slender fingers. They did this 5 or 6 times, and Jocelynn was successful every time. She could hear the approving murmurs of her classmates.
Then, Madam Hooch returned the Snitch to its case ans asked Jocelynn to perform a series of moves. Jocelynn did fine on things like the Wronski Feint and avoiding obstacles, but when Madam Hooch asked her to perform a Porskoff Ploy and other complicated moves, Jocelynn was completely lost. 'Porskoff Ploy? Lilani's Pitch?' She'd never even heard of those things!
Finally, the tryout was over and Jocelynn climbed off her broom, not even sweating. She thought she'd dome excellent, except for executing moves, and couldn't help but brag about it as she walked off the pitch with her fellow Slytherins.

I wasn't sure where i was supposed to post this... So, when do we find out the results?

Re: Yes, but...
Your supposed to have something go wrong in it or something, like messing up? But I guess I'm not one to talk since Aaron's tryout was perfect.

I think he's talking to me, sicablica. The quote in my title is from him, and I told him a while ago I was going to change it but didn't get around to it till recently.

Re: Yes, but...
OK PEOPLE. Listen up.

With the exception of Sicablica, there have been no more tryouts. As many ISS members already have one character on the team, and we are familiar with their writing style, let's change this system a little: instead of having to do a full tryout, just give your character info and what position/house team they want. As there aren't many who didn't make it in the first round, we should not have conflicts, and (hopefully) we'll be able to fill some of the empty spots on the team.

I'll go ahead and start --

Morgan Louisa Bendigeid
Gryffindor Fifth Year
Desired Position: Chaser

See, now we just need one more Gryffindor Chaser. That isn't too hard, now, is it? ;)

:lol Emma :lol
PS - If we have NOT had experience with your writing style or for some reason feel a need to see a full application, Sara and I ARE AUTHORIZED to request a full tryout from anyone. Also, if there is conflict over a certain position, all applicants will be required to fill out a full Quidditch tryout and we'll go from there.
