History:

She was born in North Carolina but move to Norwich, England at the age of five, she remembers very little of her life in the U.S., but her mom takes pride in telling the story of how she found Redivivus when she was about four. (I won't go into detail here, but maybe you can have one of your Characters ask her and she may tell you! lol)
Her entire family is muggles, she had no idea she was a witch until she got the letter. Her family has owned horses since she was 10 years old, but few people at Hogwarts know that because she rarely talks about it. She has always loved to read and draw, but has never felt comfortable meeting new people.

Appearance
Skin: (color, type, freckles, scars, etc.) Light olive skin, tans easily in the summer.
Hair: (color, texture, length) Thick, Blond but just starting to turn brown, couple inches past her waist.
Eyes: (color, size, eyelashes, eyebrows) Eyes, hazel green, the kind that seem blue one day, green the next, and the next day they're brown, depends on the color of shirt she is wearing. (don't tell me this isn't possible because this is how my eyes are, but scince Hogwarts uniforms are black they'll usually look their real color, green.) Eye lashes/brows slightly darker than hair, unremarkable.......
Face: (shape, and anything specific about the size, shape, etc. of the characters nose, forehead, chin/jaw line, etc. that you want to mention) not really anything unusual, but if you can get her to really smile, it's very wide and fills her whole face.
Height: About 5 ft. 4in.
Weight: 110 lbs.
Body Type: (muscular, chubby, scrawny, etc.) slightly on the skinny side, but not very noticeable.
How do you dress? As long as it's clean and comfortable, Rose doesn't care, she doesn't care much about fashion.
How do you present yourself? (What is the initial reaction of most people on meeting you?) Very quiet, usually waits for the other person to make the first move, takes awhile before she fells comfortable around new people.
Personality
General (give us a few paragraphs on your everyday temperament) Doesn't talk much unless it's a topic she find's very interesting or thinks there is something she needs to add. She is quiet, reads a lot, and notices a lot of what happens around her, even if it seems trivial, like there are cobwebs on the ceiling or it looks like it might rain. She is optimistic and tries to look at the bright side of things. That's about it for now................
What are you like day to day? well, quiet, and a bit anti-social, but not excessively so.
What makes you sad? What are you like when you are sad? When she's sad she withdraws into herself and talks even less than usual, she talks to Red and tells her everything.
What makes you angry? What are you like when you are angry? Oh, the usual things, teasing, etc…… when she's angry she is close to tears and if you touch on the 'sore spot' of the anger she may start shouting! It's usually takes a lot to get her really angry, though.
What makes you happy? What are you like when you are happy? She fells happy when she is reading or doing something she enjoys, or when she's just in the mood.
What are you like when you are hyper? More talkative, even if the subject is only mildly interesting.
Are you outgoing, shy, somewhere between? Shy
Do you make friends easily? No, not really, it takes awhile
How smart are you? Above average but not a genius or anything
How important is it to you to follow the rules? Not extremely important, she isn't a real stickler, but it's not like she breaks rules right and left.
What makes you different, original, special, and unique? Pretty smile, and a sense of humor that can surprise some people if she ever shows it, it doesn't come up much because she's so shy
Likes/Dislikes
What are your hobbies or interests? What do you do in your free time? At school she mostly reads, but she also loves the do art, ride horses, and work with animals, Care of magical Creatures is her favorite and best subject.
What kind of people do you like to be around? What are the kinds of people you can't stand? She can't stand people who don't like her because what she wears isn't 'in style' or something. For all her shy nature , a lot of times she likes to be around talkative people and just listen, but she likes quiet people too.
What is your favorite color? Is there a color you really hate? She especially likes blue, also green and purple. She doesn't really like red, pink, or yellow very much.
Strengths/Weaknesses: good at writing and art and good with animals, not good at meeting new people or letting her opinion be known unless she knows the people she's talking to. She is also very veracious. You can almost always trust her word. ("Diamonte, did you break all my windows and fill my desk with dragon dung?" "Why, yes, professor, how did you know?" ok, maybe not exactly like that, but you see what I mean.)
Classes? Good at Care of Magical Creatures and Charms, Poor at Transfiguration, slightly above average in other classes unless she works hard at it.
Talents? Fast reader, good at art, Plays the violin but no longer takes lessons and only plays occasionally.
Please list 3 major faults your character has. (and if one of them is 'too nice' or 'too perfect', YOU HAVE A MARY SUE ON YOUR HANDS!!! *runs of screaming but returns with a large mallet* And then I'd have to use this....*grim expression*) shy, when sad/mad she withdraws into self, has a hard time in transfiguration………there's a couple more, but that's the first three I thought of……….

~Train Ride to Hogwarts~
Rosalee sighed, stretched, and closed the book. She had already read the book 10+ times, but she always thought that if a book is worth reading once, it's worth reading again, and again, and again. She didn't want to dig into her trunk for another book to read. She set the book on the seat across from her and stood and stretched again. She stepped up to Red's cage, unhooked the small hook that kept it closed, and held out an arm for red to step on. Red was looking a little tired, after all, owls are nocturnal, but stepped obediently onto the arm in front of her.
"Are you tired Red? We're almost there, and then you can have a nice, long nap in the owlrey." Red just blinked her round eyes. The train went over a bump and Red was jerked wide awake. She ruffled her feathers and looked around the compartment. She suddenly let out a eerie cry. The first time Rose had heard it she thought it was a ghost, but she was used to it now. Rose's mom was still startled by it. Rose turned to the window, which was what Red seemed to be hooting at, and saw a great horned owl. She recognized it as The owl of her pen-pal, Beth. She opened the window as far as it would go. The owl swooped up, perched on the window sill for a split second because its wingspan, over 4 feet, couldn't fit through the window, and awkwardly glided down to the floor. Rose had always loved red, but she had always admired this magnificent bird. It had a package tied to its leg, and it held out its leg so Rose could relieve it of its burden. It was bigger than a letter; it was a package of some sort. Rose used a severing charm to sever the strings and lifted the package. The Owl, its task done, awkwardly exited through the window. From the weight, shape, and size of the package Rose guessed it was a book of some sort. She tore off the brown paper and revealed a navy blue leather book. The word on the front read simply 'Diary'. She opened it curiously and found a letter written in Beth's handwriting. It read:
Dear Rose,
You know how mom always experiments with spells? She was doing something wit this diary and she connected it to another one, she still hasn't found out how. I have the other diary it's connected to. It will be more convenient than sending letters by owl. Can't say more here, I hope you get this before you reach Hogwarts.

The diaries were connected? How did that work? Suddenly Red, who she had forgotten was there, let out another ghostly cry. Rose put the diary on the seat next to her book. She would write in the diary when she was at Hogwarts. Besides, her writing would be bumpy and hard to read if she tried to write an entry on the train.
"Well, Red" Rose said as she strokes the bird. "You may not be taking as many trips to Beth's school if what her letter says is true." Red simply looked at her as if to say whatever you say, Rose
as you may guess, I'm planning on wtarting a 'very secret diary'.........

Oh Sara, that's awfully stingy.
I think it's a terrific application - and sorry it took me so long to go over. Rose is just exactly what we need to balance the overload of shy, not-so-social people! She'll also provide some contrast for the rest of the Gryffindors, who are for the most part a rowdy, bold lot.
So far as I'm concerned, she's in with honors!
The one thing I WOULD caution you on, though, is to make sure there are enough paragraphs in your writing. I don't know if you put paragraphs in there and the computer ate the editing, but the first part of the writing sample is one big paragraph which is kind of hard to read. Normally in roleplaying you don't run into problems like that because it's mostly short posts, but it's a good thing to keep in mind.

did I mention...?
Did I mention that Rose loves to dance? Tango, Polka, Cha-Cha, Salsa, Swing, Lindy Hop.........she loves it enough to even ask a guy to dance, if they are at a dance. She will even teach them if they don't know how. She especially loves Swing and Polka, though.
It's usually takes a lot to get her really angry, though.
