Second Class: Part-Humans
The class filed in quickly and silently; Batzri suppressed a smile. It did not take any class long to learn the value of silence in his classes.
"Please pass both essays to the front. You-" he jabbed his finger at the student in the far-left desk- "Will bring them to me once you have everyone's papers.
"Make sure your names, Houses and years are on the tops of the parchments. Any paper without all of these identification will automatically receive a failing grade."
There was a shuffle of movement (without talking, Batzri noticed in grim satisfaction) and a rustle of paper as the essays were passed to the front. After a few minutes, the student in the far-left desk - a trembling first-year girl who looked as if she thought Batzri might bite her - crept to the teacher's desk, slapped down the stack of parchments, and fled.
"Thank you," Batzri said with a hint of a smile. "Now, please open your textbooks to the section on part-humans." He paused while textbooks were fetched and opened. "First turn to the chapter on vampires.
"Vampires are some of the most loyal servants of Him-Who-We-Do-Not-Name. Although they remain only a shadow of a human being, they can often pass for short periods of time as wizards when such a disguise is necessary. Though they have a knowledge of rudimentary magic, vampires are not considered wizard and are not even considered human. They are listed under 'part-human', as you should by now know." Batzri smiled thinly, paused to allow the industrious scratching of quills to come to a halt, and then continued.
"Treatment of vampires is regulated by the Ministry of Magic; however, vampires are as a rule treated harshly and without mercy, for that is their own code of conduct. Specially trained vampire hunters are employed by the Ministry of Magic and in charge of keeping tabs on and monitoring existing vampires. The natural beast enemy of a vampire is a centaur; centaurs are known to hunt and destroy vampires when vampires become a threat to their herds.
"Although many vampires congregate in Romania and Transylvania, they are able to inhabit any place where there are humans. They revel in pain, suffering and death; as such, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named finds them natural allies. As you will find next class, there are many beasts whose natural temperaments make them prime servants for Him-Who-We-Do-Not-Name.
"You have ten minutes to read the chapter on vampires," Batzri concluded. "When the ten minutes are up, you will have fifteen in which to ask questions. Begin." With a flick of his wand an oversized hourglass appeared, the sand draining steadily into the bottom chamber.
Aaron flicked open his textbook and started reading the Vampires chapter. It was very interesting, but he still didn't know who You-Know-Who was and what he had to do with anything. He made a mental note to ask Mark again and see if he could talk him into telling him.

- Marti ~ Aiden ~ James -
Marti snatched up her textbook and flipped to the chapter on vampires. 18 pages...hrm. Speed-read and with brief notes in the margins and underlining. Marti wore a dry expression, Just like last time. At least I won't be bored to death in this class. She dabbed her quill into the inkwell and began reading. Marti heard little noise in the classroom aside from the occasional turning page and the scratching of her quill.

Aiden leaned back in his seat and propped his book up on the desk. At least we're learning something definately useful. You-Know-Who had too much in his favor as it was; it was good to know that ignorance wouldn't be on his side as well.

James hauled out his textbook with an arrogant smile. He knew exactly how to handle this kind of teacher.
James snorted softly, Just do what he wants. There was no use goofing around, no use showing off, no use even talking to his mates - he glanced around at Sirius, Remus, and Peter. He sighed again under his breath, Just need to get your brain to swallow the book whole. Loads of mental stimulation, and good for the liver too. He rolled his eyes and laid across his desk and half of his book and, much like a sponge, began absorbing the text.

Loral's incredible boldness
"Excuse me, Professor." Loral had her hand raised. "I've already read and memorized this chapter." A couple students looked up to gape, that was the perfect reaction. No one else would ever have put so much effort into their schoolwork, especially just to be one up on their fellows. "May I step outside and practice my Patronous?" More students looked up, but whether it was because of her boldness or her skill she wasn't sure. Then, noticing the look on her teacher's face, she quickly added, "Unless, of course, it would interfere?" There. Let them admire her boldness, skill, hard work, and manners. Oh, and let's not forget the emerald-studded ring on the hand she had raised.

Carmondy
Carmondy almost laughed aloud at Lorals sudden boldness--that, and the fact that she'd suddenly realized that the chapter on vampires was beginning to explain much about their professor. Still, she couldn't help but feel a hint of dislike towards the girl. It was a very show-off thing to do, and she rather disliked show-off's.
OOC:
Please don't give Loral detention. She would consider it a permanent flaw on her character, and it would change her whole personality--not that that's a bad idea, but she's not gotten enough chance to use the one she has already. How about something like: "Okay, save us time and summarize the chapter. You have five minutes." After all, there are more ways then just detention to punish a character.
PS. Loral would neverget along with Carmondy. She doesn't get along with anybody, probably because of her distinct superiority. If you like, I'll post her in the halls or something and if your character comes along, I'll be happy to snub them and show you.

I believe you!
OOC: It's OK, I believe you, and Rose is shy as it is, she doesn't need to be snubbed........except, she did stand up to Narsissa...........because shes a witch......oh, right.....so is Rose...
IC: Rose pulled her nose out of her book. She had gotten pretty far, but this wasn't the kind of reading she enjoyed, she prefered Adventure books by far. (Muggles would call them Fantasy Adventure stories, but little did they know that they were Realistic Fiction.........many of them, anyway.) She wanted the see how Professor Batzri would handle this. She hoped he would at least take some points from (What house?), as he had not hesitated in taking them from Carmondy the last class.
Carmondy
Carmondy twisted a strannd of her blonde hair between her fingers and awaited the professors punishment to Loral. If he even gave her one. She had a feeling the only reason she'd lost points was because the teachers simply did not like her.
OCC: Loral should meet up w/ Narcissa in the halls ;-) THAT would be interesting. What house is she in?

a-HEM!
OOC: Hello peoples, I mean, I've been waiting for this class to move for like ever....
Loral's in Ravenclaw--because she's so brilliant, of course. I can't see why anyone would want to do anything other than avoid her, though...why should she and Narcissa meet? (I can imagine the disaster that might ensue, but if you like, I can post her in the halls somewhere or something, but her I'm-so-superiorness is going to create catastrophe's for whoever meets her there.)
Hem hem
OOC:Hem hem!*coughs like Umbridge* were in class...but Emma isn't really here, so Batzri can't really hand out punishments.....what do we do?

Re: Hem hem
OOC: If she's not here, I'll just assume the 5-minute-summary thing is the punishment.
IC:
Loral took a deep breath and swallowed. This was not altogether unexpected, but just the same, disappointing. She thought hard a moment and began: "Well, vampires were thought to have originated from an evil Animagus who could turn into a bat. Legend has it that the offspring of him and a real bat--"
"I believe I said summarize, Havelly, not quote."
Loral took another deep breath.
"Vampires are evil and should be avoided."
"More explicit than that please."
Loral was undoubtedly nervous, but a part of her was getting annoyed at her teacher's "pickiness." (OOC: I hope it's okay that I'm RPing him.)
"Vampires are supposed to have originated from a cross-species between bats and humans. Over the centuries, through inbreeding they have become less human. They are now easily distinguishable because of their complexions and their evil and nocturnal habits, though they are very intelligent and persuasive. They usually use their persuasive abilities to coax humans to come out alone at night. Wolfsbane and the allium known as garlic will ward off vampires."
Rose is the coolest! Because I made her!
Rose sighed disappointedly. That punishment wasn't nearly as bad as she had been hoping. Not that she would have liked to stand up in front of the class......it actually would have terrified her.....but she didn't want Gryffindor to be the only house to lose points.
OOC: I notice points being taken, but none being given. I think that the teachers should award points as well as take them away.
