The Quidditch Pitch - After CoMC
Aiden, in one swift movement, swung the broom off his shoulder and under him, and kicked off from the ground. He whistled cheerfully. Aiden was glad Gwen had met up with Hannah - Gwen didn't really like Quidditch, and he would hate to think she would've been stuck out here just because of him.

He flew in a few lazy circles, enjoying the wind in his face and the decreased restriction of his movement compared to being on the ground. Aiden pulled the end of his broomstick to his chest and was suddenly rocketing upward. He leaned back some more and did a full loop, whooping raucously.

Re: The Quidditch Pitch - After CoMC
Taking only the time to sling his bag of books into his dormitory and grab his broom, Thomas was off to the pitch directly after Care of Magical Creatures. It had been a months since he'd been on a real Quidditch pitch - there was a small one in the wizarding community started by Thomas's father, but it had become quite dilapidated and was in the middle of a sprucing-up.

Thomas exited the dormitory after making sure he hadn't forgotten anything - not that he need much. Broom over his shoulder and scarlet-and-gold scarf draped rakishly around his neck, he shot out of Gryffindor tower and down in the direction of the entrance hall.

Re: The Quidditch Pitch - after CoMC
Aaron stood in the Entrance Hall, wondering what to do next. If only he could play Quidditch. He had a broom at home, and was quite good, but wasn't allowed to bring a broom to Hogwarts. maybe he could borrow a broom, he remembered that someone had said that the school kept a supply of brooms, maybe he could borrow one of those. But he didn't know where they where, he'd have to find someone to ask. Just as he was about to exit the hall, he saw someone rushing through with a broom over his shoulder. "Excuse me". He said. "Do you know where I could get a broom to practice
with, without borrowing one?"

OOC: Aratarion, please talk to me about using commas, ok? :)

Thomas stopped and did an about-face, letting his broom fall from his shoulder so he was leaning casually on it like a walking-staff. The questioner was familiar - a first year he'd seen hanging about the Common Room once or twice, whose name he didn't know.

"There're brooms belonging to Madam Hooch," he informed the younger child. "She's the flying instructor. You could find her - I'd expect one of the prefects or teachers, or James Potter or Lily Evans could tell you were she is - and ask her if you could borrow a school broom. Better yet," Thomas said kindly, remembering when he was a broom-happy first year, "Ask her if you can borrow one of the good ones. Mostly they're all garbage, but there are one or two that fly straight. And fast."

Re: The Quidditch Pitch - after CoMC
After the first year had thanked him and hurried away, Thomas continued to the Quidditch pitch. He was dismayed to find another boy - tall, tan, and blonde - already there. He wore a Hufflepuff crest and looked to be in his sixth year at least, but Thomas didn't know him.

Wondering if the better option was to approach the boy or stay at the opposite end of the field, Thomas pushed off with his toes and floated slowly into the air. Three or four years ago - two, even - he would have unreservedly pulled a few stunts to show off and then introduced himself, but since then Thomas had learned that not everyone appreciated something like that.

Aiden finished his loop and looked around - there was someone else there! Feeling decidedly foolish, he hovered close to the ground a few yards from the boy he'd mentally called a jock. "Hey."

Thomas pulled one hand off his broom, floated a foot or two closer to the other boy, and held the hand out.

"Thomas Farrington," he said. "And you are?"

"Aiden Jeffreys," he answered, shaking the boy's proffered hand. He nodded at Thomas' broom, "What model is it?"

"It's a Nimbus," Thomas said with pride, "One thousand and two. Newest model, I got it for Christmas. You?"

Aiden nodded, impressed. "Actuarius 500," he replied, patting his steed. "Not the fastest, but reliable." Aiden shrugged, "Got some sentimental value too, I guess. My father gave it to me my 16th birthday." His eyes flashed a challenge, "Much good at flying?"

"I'm alright," Aiden replied, ever-modest. "I like Quidditch better than regular ol' flying though. You play?"

"I do," Thomas said. "Most positions, though Chaser's the natural one. What about you?"

Aiden shrugged, "I don't play much, I live in a Muggle neighborhood. When I do get the chance to play, I try not to be too picky about position. I'm a dreadful Seeker though. All you do is fly around and look for the Snitch - it's boring. I'd much rather be in the action." Aiden shifted on his broom, "Really stinks we don't have a Quaffle."

"If I could get us a ball, would you practice with me tomorrow?" Thomas asked speculatively.

Aiden raised his eyebrows, "Sure, if you're willing to find out just how poorly you fly in comparison." He grinned good-naturedly.

Re: The Quidditch Pitch - after CoMC
Aiden laughed and wrenched his broom upwards the same moment Thomas did. They sped higher and higher above the Quidditch pitch, when suddenly Thomas about-faced and zoomed earthward. A second behind, Aiden spun around and raced after him.

They were both lying flat against their broomed - Aiden could hear nothing but the wind in his ears and the exhilarated beating in his chest. At the last possible moment, just before they crashed into the turf, Aiden led Thomas to the right and they zipped in circles around the perimeter of the pitch.

Thomas grinned, exhilarated by the break-neck speed of flight. He put another foot between him and Aiden and then executed a tight spin followed by a loop before adding a burst of speed to catch the Hufflepuff boy again.

Aiden's face became grim with determination - Show-off - he mimicked Thomas' move and did his own large loop, coming back down in a wild corkscrew that would have left him dizzy if he could've focused on anything else but flying.

He caught up with Thomas in a flash, "Whenever you're ready." Aiden was sure they were nothing more than blurs to any onlookers.

"If we did the smart thing we'd stop now and call it even before we both end up in the Hospital Wing," Thomas yelled, with a grin.
