December 24, 2004
→ Happy holidays everyone! Go spend lots of time with family and friends. We wish you the best.

→ Check out the site’s birthday list for both you and your character!

→ Hey, new layout! I thought a change would do us good and I was getting tired of the other one. Please let me know of any mistakes in the Knowledge forum and your opinion. Also, everyone's titles have been redone. If there's a problem with it, please bring this to my attention also. Thanks. <3

→ Can I have a drum roll please? I promised I’d choose the staff members today and I’ll be good to my word. First off, the Lavinia gang leadren and co-administrator of Survival Instincts is...Faina [Harper]. Now for the sub-leaders and moderators of SI. Lavinia Sub-leader goes to Treyror Hertoi [Lizzie] and Xymos Sub-Leader goes to Synge [Meg]. Congratulations you three! Please no hard feelings to the other applicants; it was a very hard choice.

→ We need members! *bribes with cookies* We have not a single male character to our name so it would be greatly appreciated if you’d consider joining as a male. Heck, it would be greatly appreciated if you’d consider joining. :D

This is our typical talent forum. Use it to showcase art you have made and want to show off, offer your talented services to someone, or request something for yourself from others. Any talent, art, or writing is accepted here, and it doesn’t have to be related to the roleplay to be displayed.

If you do decide to take advantage of this forum, please make only one thread per person and put any information you’d like to include in that single thread. Including your contact information is a recommendation, but definitely not a requirement. We respect your right to privacy.

  » staff hideout
If you can see this forum, you’ve most likely got access to it given that it’s hidden. Leaders and Sub-leaders have the privilege of being part of the staff and making decisions regarding the game, its members and board-wide plots. What is said in this forum should always, unless agreed upon by all, remain in this forum and never be slipped through ezinbox or to friends. If it’s found out that you’ve been abusing this rule, a permanent ban from this forum will ensue immediately.

Controversial Territory
  » downtown
The center of the urban metropolis is bursting with action. Crammed between skyscrapers, shopping centers, and apartment complexes are hoards of cars and gaggles of people all coexisting in the polluted air of downtown. Carved into the city structure are countless streets crisscrossing each other, holding many slow-moving cars with rude drivers behind the wheel, cutting the city into sectors and blocks. Between buildings, dingy alleyways call to be explored, riddled with dumpsters, hidden treasures, and sometimes separated by fences. With all the excitement, a wandering dog or two is often overlooked in the scheme of things.

  » junkyard
Around the large area designated as the junkyard is a splintered wooden fence, broken in some places to allow for small creatures to pass through. It opens onto the street through a large opening, made for trucks to pass easily and dump their load. This is not a garbage dump, however, except the large variety. Rusted and mangled vehicles find a final haven here and an assortment of various home and garden furnishings coat the dirt floor. Almost any treasure can be dug up, but the careless will only find pain since the place is riddled with sharp items wanting to pierce through fur and flesh.

  » church cemetery
The cemetery is a pretty creepy place even by a dog’s standards. Tombstones of many shapes and sizes are plotted irregularly about the grass-covered ground, standing as straight as sentinels. Scrawled on many are words in the human language of which hardly a dog can read. Near the center is a wooden gazebo with benches protruding from the octagonal walls and covered by a decorative roof. The graveyard gets few mourners anymore because of its age, which accounts for the tiny, stone church on the back of the property virtually going out of business. It’s practically a one-roomed structure with a small reception area before the sanctuary, furnished with pews facing toward an alter and a massive cross. A broken window is the only way of entry, leading the trespasser into the stony basement.

  » park
The park is probably the nicest place to spend any amount of time in. It’s relatively clean and peaceful with the occasional ruckus of playing children in the populated areas. Miniature hiking trails wind their way through a forest of massive, old trees, secluded from the noise of the city and a lot of sunlight. Where the trees are spread widest, long green grass covers the large lawn, lending to picnicking humans beautiful scenery and a soft seat to spread their blanket. On one edge, a jungle gym and swing set provide the necessities to make the park a favorite place of children also.

  » pier
The smell of fish is constantly in the air around the pier. Here, boats come and go, picking up and dropping off various assortments of cargo. The dock is enclosed in a little bay off the ocean and is a large source of commerce to the coastal metropolis. To either side are rocky stretches of beach, scarred by ugly cliff faces instead of smooth sand. People swarm around the open-air markets selling fresh seafood and trucks stream in and out with many company logos on them to gather goods to stock their store shelves. Jutting into the calm waters of the bay are wooden docking ‘stations’ used for anchoring the myriad of ships. Not all of them are used, for not all are structurally sound.

  » school
Xymos center
The old elementary school has stood unused for several years until a gang of dogs calling themselves Xymos moved in. The layout is in the shape of a square with four main hallways lined with classrooms to either side. Only the library is carpeted with thin, blue-gray carpeting on which sits a long desk, a few square tables, and rows of short bookshelves, some still holding books; the rest of the school is tiled. A cafeteria and gymnasium sit largely empty at the end of this square. Outside, a blacktop area and grassy field with play equipment complete the school grounds. A backdoor has been kicked in by meddling teenagers and on some walls of the school graffiti is painted. A few of the windows have also been broken, providing more than one way of entry.

  » theater
Lavinia center
Standing on the opposite end of town from the school, the more recently deserted theater was the victim of persistent gang violence and finally shut its doors to the public. The dog gang, Lavinia, took over shortly after. The neon lights of the old theater have been indefinitely turned off as has all of the electricity. Upon entering from the front doors is a large area where movie tickets and concessions were sold. The counters still stand even though there’s no food. To either side are hallways leading to the movie rooms, three on each side, with rows of seats and an aisle in the center. With no windows, they are constantly dark. The main way in is through a small opening in a side door hanging on its hinges and leaning against the building.
