Trent
"Er, yeah, guess so," Trent replied to Narcissa. It seemed like everywhere he went she was his partner. Go figure. He didn't mind her, he just can't imagine that he's actually ok with the idea of them pairing up.

Partners
Penny eyed the spinx. It was pacing the kennel restlessly, it's long tail lashing behind it. Penny didn't feel like asking anyone to be her partner, so she waited where she was.

~~~
Hannah whipped out her sketch pad and pencil and began to draw the large, golden creature in the enclosure. She used long, bold strokes, hoping to finish before someone asked her to be her partner.
OOC: Who's going to be partners with Gilderoy? LOL.
Re: Partners
OOC: Poor Kettleburn! He's not having a good day.
IC:
Kettleburn wiped at his brow again. No one was forming into pairs as instructed - it seemed to be a rather reluctant class this year.
"Very well," he said tremblingly. Now or never. "Er, let's just everyone move to the enclosure." His hands and feet shaking, he firmly stepped forward to lead the way.
The class followed formlessly, some eager to see the sphinx, others talking amongst themselves and paying the golden animal no attention. A few were taking notes - Kettleburn made a mental note to applaud these students on their togetherness later. They were certainly more with-it than he was today. Next class... next class, things would be easier. They were doing unicorns next - those were always a hit...
The shpinx looked up as they came, but - to Kettleburn's relief - looked down again almost immediately to continue its pacing. Maybe it's a mute, he thought hopefully to himself. Then he wouldn't have to worry about the riddling.
Re: Partners
Aaron approached the enclosure. If the animals were always this cool, he expected he was going to like this class. The sphinx was pacing back and forth, probably to work out some of his energy. It had this thing to it, the way it walked, the way it held itself, that fascinated Aaron. He had a feeling that if this creature wanted, it could be back in Egypt by now.
Gilderoy
OOC: I haven't been playing him enough...
IC:
Staying at the back of the group, Gilderoy kept as far away from the sphinx as possible. The large creature frightened him with it's huge unblinking eyes and very long, sharp claws. Gilderoy had never liked Care of Magical Creatures at all, and it didn't look like this year would be any different.
Question
Kenneth was fascinated by the sphinx. He'd read about them and seen them in pictures at home, but had never been this close to a real one before. He still thought the sphinx was a female, but he wasn't quite sure.
Kenneth raised his hand, hoping to get Kettleburn's attention before he started speaking again.
Re: Question
"Notice -" Kettleburn broke off, noticing a hand waving from the right side of the group. It was a Gryffindor boy Kettleburn couldn't quite place...
"Er. Yes?"
Re: Question
"How do you determine the gender of a sphinx?" Kenneth asked, glanced at the large cat-like creature that was still pacing it's enclosure restlessly.
Rosalee
Rose waved to Carmondy, who had just arrived.......with a most insane excuse for her lateness, as usual. Though Rose was definately not a stickler for rules, Carmondy was somthing else completely, but she liked that. She did not yet have a partner and was hoping Carmondy would see her and come over. She didn't want to be stuck with someone she didn't know, that would be terrifying!
Carmondy
Carmondy went and stood by Rose. She was careful to keep her distance from the Sphinx. It wasn't that she didn't like animals...it was just that animals didn't seem to like her.
She whispered to Rose out of the corner of her mouth,
"So do you think this one will trample me--or just bite me?"
Narcissa
Narcissa raised an eyebrow at Professor Kettleburn. That man had serious problems....
Bet Evans thinks she's really smart casting that water repelling charm....she's such a suck up. Always has to be teachers pet....
"Should I simply push Lily in the eye contact of the Sphinx?" she hissed innocently to Trent.
Rochelle
"See Peter? Much easier now isn't it? That's the trick, just don't look at it." Rochelle was taking notes for Peter and herself with a simple spell she performed on her quill. Peter was feeling slightly embarrassed about a fourth year having more courage and (.....whatever else it was that this Rochelle girl had......) than him,and was avoiding the eyes of his pals Sirius, James and Lupin.
OOC: Sorry...um...whoever is Peter....I felt it went with how Rochelle affected people, I won't RP him anymore!
Re: Rochelle
"ha ha," Trent laughed. "It'd be amusing to see what Miss Perfect does in that situation," Trent agreed looking at Narcissa.
Carmondy whispered to Morgan (OCC: is she there too?) and Rose,
"look, there's Chris. Lets go talk to him...."
Re: Carmondy
Chris stepped forward to look at the creature. He loved animals. This one was no exception. He didn't want to make eye contact in any event though. So he turned away. Out of the corner of his eye he thought He saw a group of girls looknig at him. No, he said. Just my inagination.
Re: Carmondy
OOC: GWL, we don't have anyone on Peter, so it's ok. He's up for anyone to roleplay whenever they need him as long as he's kept in character. ;) And yes, Morgan IS there.
IC:
"Sure," Morgan said flippantly. "You're the one who thinks he's to die for." She suppressed a giggle - "He looks awfully nervous, though."
Rose
Rose giggled too. "you go ahead, YOu don't want me there to embarras you!"
Carmondy gave her a look that said clearly 'you're not embarrasing' but then saw that Rose was joking.
OOC: sorry for doing Carmondy for a minute
Carmondy
"Your both coming! Now come on!" she gentled tugged on their arms, pulling them in Chris's direction. Carmondy was careful not to let Kettleburn see them--he seemed a bit preoccupied by the Sphinx at the moment anyway....
"Hey, Chris," she greeted quietly, flashing him a dazzling smile.
Penny
Penny watched three girls approach Chris--was that his name?--out of the corner of her eye. Penny didn't get it--what was so great about Chris She rolled her eyes and focused her attention back on the teacher.
OOC: Where is our TEACHER?? LOL. 'E still needs to answer Ken's question.
