Potions class
These are pretty good kids, Cecelia thought bemusedly. I shouldn't have a lot of trouble with them.

"Is there anyone who hasn't gone?"

Trent
Trent chuckled softly to himself. Like he was going to say anything. He just continued to look towards the font of the classroom with a look of bemusement on his face.

Chelsea
Chelsea ran her fingers through her hair and stood up.

"I'm Chelsea Tompkins, a 6th year Hufflepuff. I like Tranfiguration."

She flashed a quick fake smile at the new teacher and sat back down.

Carmondy
Carmondy paraded into the Potions classroom. She paused in the doorway to fix everyone with her million dollar smile before prancing up to the new teachers desk.
"Hi! I'm Carmondy Cunningham. Sorry I'm late. There was a mix up with my schedule. See, it said I had Herbology, but I really had Defense Against th Dark Arts. But when I got there-- it was all first years, so then i went to the headmaster, and then he went to some other teacher, and then she went to whoever made the schedules, and then they found out that I was really supposed to be here," she finshed promtly. There were some snorts from the rest of the class as they tried not to laugh-- they all knew better then to believe a word she said. Carmondy liked showing up late for class--it was her "style".
She tossed her silky blonde hair behind her shoulder and added quickly,
"I'm a 5th year, Gryffindor, by the way."
With that final statment, Carmondy spun around and took a seat in the back, next to Gwen whom she though was looking lonely.

Narcissa
Narcissa rolled her misty gray eyes at the arrival of Carmondy and hissed to Trent,
"That girl is the very definition of 'dumb blond'."

Re: Potions Class - First Day
Cecelia smirked. "A very interesting tale, Carmondy, but totally unneccessary. Gwendolyn came in late and I excused it - I would have done the same to you-" she shook her head- "But I'm afraid I can't excuse dishonesty, however amusing it may be. You'll be serving a lunch detention here with me."

She turned to the class. "Please try not to be late in the future - and especially please be honest when you are," she glanced sadly at Carmondy. "As soon as everyone's done, I'll introduce myself and then you can ask me some questions. So if you haven't already introduced yourself, speak now or forever hold your peace."

Re: Carmondy
Brandon stood stiffly, scowling as deeply as ever. "Brandon Bendigeid," he said shortly. "Sixth year Ravenclaw. I've been ready to graduate for six years."

~*~

Morgan - who had started to stand before Bran cut her off - stood again. "I'm Morgan Louisa Bendigeid, Gryffindor fifth year," she said brightly. "I like green and orange and Transfiguration."

~*~

"Lily EVANS," Lily introduced herself with a smile (even though she was too tired to feel it). "I'm a seventh year Ravenclaw--"

"And Head Girl," Professor Herring interjected, smiling.

Lily nodded and sat down.

Carmondy
OCC: Ouch! Detention.....LOL

Carmondy raised a perfectly plucked eyebrow. Wow, detention at her very first class...she'd broken her record! Usually when she told that story the teachers were so dumbfounded they just let it slide and continued with their lesson. Carmondy smiled to herself, she liked this new teacher.
Guess i won't have to get rid of this one... she thought to herself, and turned her attention to Gwen.
Making sure no one saw her, she wrote neatly across the top of her paper as though she was taking notes:

Gwen,
This could just be me, but do I sense distress?

Re: Carmondy
Aralyn chuckled amusedly at Carmody's fashionably late arrival. It was just the sort of thing that set Remus Lupin on the track to trouble-making. Aralyn was sitting next to the girl called Morgan as well as Marti. Aralyn wrote a note to Morgan and Marti both.

Marti~
This class is rather boring. Oh how I wish we were in Transfiguration already!

Morgan~
Hi, I'm 5th yr. Gryffindor too. Question: what do you want to do after Hogwarts?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"We're going to steal a ship. That ship?"
"Commander. We are going to commander that ship. One question about your personal business boy. How far are you willing to go to rescue this girl?"
"I'd die for her."
"Oh good, no worries then."

Narcissa
Narcissa scanned the faces of her fellow classmates and decided that this had to be the largest group of people she hated in one room since breakfast.

James stretched and leaned back in his chair. The movement caught Aiden's eye and James nodded to him companionably. Aiden knew Gwen was still mad at him (and truth be told he wasn't altogether pleased with her in spite of his revelation) - so he nodded back with more camaraderie than he would have otherwise. James grinned.

Re: lily potter?
Gwen glanced at Carmondy's paper, scowled, and shook her head. She didn't need anyone poking into her problems. None of them ever took notice of her when she was happy, so why should she give them the satisfaction of comforting her?

She glanced sideways and forward at Aiden, taking notes on Herring's lesson. His shoulders were rigid - so he was still angry too, then. Let him be. Gwen certainly wasn't going to apologize for his childishness.

Cecelia Herring
"Bless you, Carmondy. ...Well, I'm guessing everyone else is just antisocial or doesn't feel like humoring my I'm-a-new-teacher-and-know-nothing-about-you thing. So, I guess it's my turn." Professor Herring smiled and involuntarily clenched her hands - suddenly everyone was looking at her again. She swallowed hard.

"My full name is Cecelia Lynn Herring. I was a Hufflepuff when I attended Hogwarts, and I was a Philtramentum - that's like a house but only it's for what you're going to teach - at the Magical Educators’ Academy in Scotland." She touched a finger to her bottom lip, thinking. "Let's see, I'm Muggle-born, I have an older brother, my father raised me after my mother left - my father was recently married to a witch with 5 children so I have 5 new stepsiblings too. And I'm not married, in case you're going to ask." She shrugged with a little smile, "And that's me. If you have anything else you want to know about me, ask, and then we can get started with the lesson. If we're lucky, we can get far enough with the lesson that we can actually make malak next class. "

Re: Narcissa
"Wait, I haven't gone," Ginger stood up. "I'm Ginger, I'm a 3rd year, and I like to help my dad work with Spanish Green Dragons."

Loral snorted inwardly. Showoff. Loral didn't stand. Everybody, she knew, only had to see her to know that she was the richest and the smartest and the prettiest there. Why bother introducing herself?

Re: LESSON BEGINS
"Nice to meet you, Ginger." She turned to the class, "and it's nice to meet all of you. I'm hoping this will be an enjoyable year for everyone and that we can do a lot of learning before you go home for the summer and forget it all," she smiled dryly. "Now, introductions are officially ended, and the first lesson of the year is officially begun." With the end of the sentence there was a sound like a lot of popcorn popping all in the same second and small framed tablets appeared at the corner of each desk.

"These just make things simpler on me so that I don't have to rely on you to get what you need from the lecture, and I don't have to make copies or stand at the front of the room scrawling notes for you to copy all day. That's just boring. So what I'll do..." she picked up an identical tablet from her desk, only it had a neon orange frame, "is have your notes ready every day before class on mine, and then when I tap it with my wand - oh, mind that you're not touching yours, otherwise it'll be messy."

She paused as a few people moved their arms or straightened in their desks, "So when I tap it with my wand," she did so and there was a sound like a suction cup being yanked off a window, "it's on yours, but backwards. So all YOU have to do is - " Herring waved her wand at the class and tiny inkwells materialized on their desks " - draw a little dot in the corner of a regular ol' piece of parchment with this ink and then lay the parchment over the tablet." She borrowed someone's in the front and demonstrated. "Then, when you pull it off, viola! Instant notes, and exactly the stuff you'll be tested on," she held it up for the class to see. Professor Herring frowned at her watch, then shrugged. "We're going to make the ink today, since we're not going to have time to get as much done on malak as I wanted to. But no worries, that'll be next class. Malak is fun and the Absum Atramentums are a good way to burn time until then."

Professor Herring clapped her hands together briskly. "So everyone put everything away but your potion ingredients and the notes you just got, get your cauldrons ready, and get into pairs. Quick now, I don't find Absum Atramentums much more interesting than you do, but the steam will make it warmer in here!" Professor Herring stuck her cold hands under her chin. "Brr..."

Carmondy and Narcissa
Narcissa snorted, This mudblood is going to be TEACHING ME...?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Carmondy raised her hand timidly in the hair and said sweetly,
"Is it going to be non toxic ink?"

Re: Narcissa
OOC: Timidly in the hair?? LOL!

"Yes, of course." Herring looked at Carmondy sideways, "We're going to end up getting to know each other this year, aren't we?" Herring shook her head, "Nevermind, I already know the answer. Everyone get a partner and your supplies so we can start!" she called.

Picking partners
Chelsea stood up quickly and peered around for a suitable partner. Her blue eyes found Aiden Jeffreys, who was sitting on the other side of the room from her. And from Gwen James. Chelsea smiled, almost evilly, to herself.

After pushing past several desks, and stepping on lots of people's toes (some of them purposefully), Chelsea arrived at Aiden's. He looked up at her, a little startled. She flashed him a dazzling smile and pulled the nearest empty desk up next to his.

"Can I be your partner? I'm dreadful at Potions, and I sure could use somebody strong" --she ran a slender finger up his arm-- "and smart like you to help me."
