Onako kako smo i do sad znali.

FORMER Liberal Party planning doyen and the champion of Melbourne's green-belt, Alan Hunt, has called on Premier John Brumby to consider buying back thousands of undeveloped bush blocks to help avert future fire disasters.
Mr Hunt, planning minister in the 1970s Hamer Liberal government, yesterday said governments had lost their way in planning, allowing landholders and developers to build housing where it did not belong.
He called for the reintroduction of "firm rules" to prevent further residential development in "hazardous" areas. "And we need firmer protection for our green-belts that go to the heart of Melbourne's character."
In the 1970s Mr Hunt and government colleagues, including Rupert Hamer, feared that the rising popularity of building homes on bush blocks in the Dandenongs would prove a major fire risk.
The government bought back thousands of blocks, turning them over to parkland, a move since celebrated as a breakthrough in conservation and fire protection.
The RMIT study for the State Government notes that about 4100 houses have been built on hobby farms and bush blocks in six urban-fringe municipalities to Melbourne's north over the past decade.
Associate Professor Michael Buxton, who helped compile the report, warned of a "dangerous cocktail" of poor planning, rapid population growth, plummeting water supply and worsening fire risk through climate change.
"Doing nothing is not an option for the Government. There is a disaster waiting to happen. We can't afford to allow thousands more of these lots to have dwellings built on them in an ad hoc manner. We have to stop people building in areas where they are at real risk of being killed."
However, fellow RMIT academic John Handmer said the experience of floods showed it was extremely hard to stop people from rebuilding in specific areas — as they returned incrementally.

Quote:ARSON is unlikely to be the cause of most of the bushfires that ravaged Victoria on Saturday, including the deadly Kinglake complex blaze, according to a special police taskforce.
Quote:Arsonists are responsible for Victoria's Churchill fire and possibly the Marysville fire as well, Victorian Police Commissioner Christine Nixon says.
Quote:"What we believe is the Churchill fire, we believe it was deliberately lit and we've got a very strong investigation that has now been in place for some time on that and our taskforce Phoenix is now picking that up as part of the investigation," Ms Nixon told ABC television on Wednesday.
"There are a number of the other fires that fire investigators and the CFA and others believe have been suspicious because of the way the fire behaved and so even as late as today, there's the suggestion that perhaps the Marysville fire was deliberately lit.
"As we've gone to Marysville to investigate we've, along with fire experts, become suspicious about how the fire actually came into Marysville, the direction it came from, the pace it came with, all of those things are part of the way we investigate a fire."
She said police were prepared to lay a charge of murder by arson - with a 25-year jail penalty - against anyone believed to have caused one of the fatal bushfires.
She added that police had received reports that more fires have been deliberately lit since Saturday.
"We certainly have had reports of other fires being lit," Ms Nixon told Seven on Thursday.
"You and I would just be staggered by that, but that's what we're certainly seeing. We've been investigating those as well."
South Australian Premier Mike Rann's idea of putting convicted or suspected arsonists under surveillance during high fire risk periods sounded like a "reasonable strategy", she said.
Koliko bi vama trebalo da kao sto je to kod nas uradjeno za nedelju dana;
- sakupite 100 miliona pomoci za 7000 ljudi kojima je spaljeno 1800 kuca u jednom trenu;
- da prijavite 30,000 dobrovoljaca koji bi dali krv
- da kao ZAJEDNICA ponudite nastradalima ne samo smestaj, hranu, odecu i obucu, vec kao ZAJEDNICA da odlucite da cete BESPLATNO i u REKORDNOM vremenu izgraditi ponovo kuce i gradice;
Quote:*Hundreds of tradesmen and planners have offered help to rebuild more than 1800 homes destroyed in the fires, leaving 7000 people homeless.
Quote:A WEEK after Australia's worst peacetime disaster, police have arrested a suspected arsonist and pinpointed "ground zero" - the spot where someone lit the blaze that killed around 100 people at Marysville.
Re: Jos jedan rekord!
Kao sto sam i pretpostavljao da je u istocnom delu VIC pozar podmetnut dok je u severnom uzrok vatre opisan ispod;
Quote:THE Brumby Government and a private electricity company face one of the largest class actions in Victorian history over last weekend's devastating firestorm.
The legal wrangle, which is expected to involve hundreds of millions of dollars and last for years, will centre on a fallen power line that is believed to have sparked the blaze that tore through Kinglake, Steels Creek and St Andrews, killing more than 100 people and destroying about 1000 homes.
The Phoenix taskforce is examining a two-kilometre stretch of power line in Kilmore East that snapped during strong winds and record heat about 11am last Saturday. Within minutes a nearby pine forest was ablaze. Within six hours the fire had destroyed nearly every building in the towns in its path.
On Thursday, police removed a length of the fallen power line and a pole as evidence.
The lawsuit will cover thousands of farmers, small business owners, tourist operators and residents who lost homes.
Yesterday Slidders Lawyers partner Daniel Oldham confirmed that a class action had been issued in the Supreme Court of Victoria on Friday against Singapore-owned electricity company SP AusNet, which is responsible for maintaining most of the power lines in eastern Victoria.
"It is believed that the claim will be made on the basis of negligent management of power lines and infrastructure," Mr Oldham said.
Ozrenac,
Znas zasto?
Jer kao narod za tu vasu vladu vredite - go ....
Ili manje!

Quote:Total donations to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal now exceed $138 million, with volunteers at one Melbourne call centre saying they have been "overwhelmed" by donations of cars, hay, houses and caravans, some from victims of the fires and even one from a daschund.
"Generous is an understatement," said Kerrie Grant, project manager at Salmat SalesForce, one of the volunteer call centres which has had 150 volunteers taking calls from around the country.
Within 90 minutes of opening the lines, Ms Grant said demand was so great that 20,000 calls were missed. Over the 24-hour period of the telethon, the centre received 14,000 calls gifting over $2 million.
"The calls are still coming through in large numbers," said Ms Grant, "but we are managing to catch them all now."
For this centre, one of twelve operating throughout the crisis, the volunteer response has come from around Australia. People have flown from Perth to join the effort. The phones were open 24 hours a day until two days ago and there has been no shortage of people to staff them.
Indeed, Ms Grant said finding enough seating was the biggest challenge, a problem solved by opening another floor of the building. Since opening last week, her centre alone has taken over 40,000 calls and collected more than $7 million.
Adrienne Layton, 39, of Elwood started her volunteer shift today at 7am. Alongside her full-time job, she's been taking calls in her time off, and says not every caller donates money.
"One gentleman bought a new car for his retirement," said Ms Layton. "But he said `I don't need this. I'm going to fill it up with coffee and tea and other groceries and you can have it.' And that was a $30,000 ute."
Ms Layton has taken calls from companies matching staff donations dollar for dollar. Children, she says, have been emptying their piggy banks. Even a dog, Donald the daschund, donated $100 for bushfire affected animals. Manicurists and hairdressers have offered their services for free. Victims of the Queensland floods have donated their flood relief money.
"The largest donation I've taken was $100,000 from an individual, who said to me, `What's the point of having a gold Amex if I can't use it?"'
Ms Layton said businesses near the call centre had been done their part to keep the volunteers going. A local supermarket donated drinks. The local cafe kept volunteers well caffeinated.
"The minute you mention what you are doing everyone wants to jump on board. I'm nearly 40 and I've never seen anything like it in my life. It really puts the incidental, day-to-day stuff into context," she said.
For manager Kerrie Grant, one phone call among the hundreds she has taken characterises the spirit of the Bushfire Appeal.
"When one lady stated how much she wanted to donate, I thanked her for her generosity and she simply broke down. She then told me she had lost her grandson in the fires."

Nisu izbili novi pozari vec stari jos uvek gore!

"Čeka me kolega kod Hitne pomoći. Do aerodroma!
Ni Australijanci nisu baš svi za primer:

A US woman is accused of trading two young children in her care for a pet cockatoo and $US175 ($A269) in cash from a couple who had been trying for years to have their own child, police said on Thursday.
Donna Greenwell, 53, is charged with aggravated kidnapping, along with would-be adoptive parents Paul Romero, 46, and Brandy Lynn Romero, 27.
"The Romeros had good intentions from what we see," said Keith Dupre, a detective with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office in the southern state of Louisiana.
"They really wanted to take care of the kids. The kids were well-dressed and seemed to be treated good by the Romero family."
The transaction for the 5-year-old boy and the 4-year-old girl was negotiated by phone after Greenwell spotted a flier posted at a livestock barn selling a cockatoo for $US1,500 ($A2,309) and called the Romeros on February 18, Dupre said.
Although Paul Romero had three children from a previous marriage, Dupre said, he and Brandy had tried unsuccessfully for years to have a child together.
When they told that to Greenwell, she allegedly offered to hand over the boy and girl for money.
When the Romeros said they couldn't meet the price, Dupre said, "Ms Greenwell agreed to make an even trade: the bird for the kids".
Greenwell showed up with the children at the Romeros' home the next day and said she would also need $US175 for a lawyer to complete adoption paperwork, Dupre said.
But she had no authority to put the children up for adoption.
Everything began to unravel last week when authorities received a phone tip that the Romeros and the children would be at a local fast food restaurant, where police approached them.
The children are in state custody.
Greenwell's relationship to the children was unclear.
Dupre said the children's father was being questioned and that authorities were looking for the mother, believed to be somewhere in Texas.
The Romeros were free on $US5,000 bond. Greenwell remained in jail on $US100,000 bond, Dupre said.
